London is Top of the Location Charts on Twitter

According to the State of the Twittersphere report from Hubspot, out of over 4.5 million twitter users that they have collected data on, London has come up as the top location that people put into their bio.

Now why is that important?

Well, our company is in the UK and we aim to help, primarily, UK businesses to achieve greater visibility through the medium of Social Networks. The State of the Twittersphere report shows that out of the 4.5 million accounts they have checked, 31.32% have stated a location in their profile. That’s 1.4 million people, and don’t forget this is just a small portion of the total number of twitterers in the UK and across the world. So, of those 1.4 million people, the greatest percentage of users state that they are based in London.

So if your business is in London, are you on twitter?

If not, you’ve got to be asking yourself, why not. By using the information you can glean from users on twitter you can research product usage, interact with customers, attract new customers and help service customer issues; all the while building your brand or business within a Social Media Context. And when you consider that nearly 38% of all tweets contain an “@” symbol, meaning the tweet is mentioning another twitter user; you can see how easily brand and business information can be virally implemented to build awareness of your services or products.
